Offham Primary School

Wellbeing Council

At Offham Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and well-being of our pupils. Research into child development and neuroscience all provide us with the understanding of the direct correlation between positive mental health and optimum educational outcomes.  If well-being is high, then children can reach their full potential.

Part of this was the achievement of the Well-being Award for Schools in 2022, although we know that this is not the end of our journey to improve well-being for our pupils.

This year, classes voted for 2 representatives to join the well-being council. Here are the actions for term one submitted by the council:

Term One Actions:

Zones of Regulation - Add coloured pots with coloured sticks for children to use after break and lunchtimes so they can visually show an adult without having to tell them.

Time to be given by teachers after social breaks to reflect on tasks, during a wellbeing activity.

Organise posters to remind children of the zones and activities to do during break and lunchtime and display these around social areas such as the playground. Ensure the Nook is being advertised as a quiet and calm space during lunchtime.

Speak to class teachers about making sure a worry box is placed in each nurture nook in the classroom.
