What can you do at home?
Daily practice of timetables and daily reading. Times tables are going to underpin everything we learn in the first few weeks - we need the children to be confident in recall and remainders.
Practise spellings for the weekly spelling test.
Complete any of the optional tasks on the class page.

Homework is optional and the tasks to complete are below.
A list of spellings will be sent home to practise. In KS2 they will have a written test the following Friday. There will also be an optional spelling sheet for KS2.
We will also expect the children to log onto Numbots and/or TT Rockstars to complete some maths fluency practice.
Daily reading is also a very important part in your child’s learning journey. This can be reading their school reading book and/or enjoying a reading for pleasure book of their choice.
This will be sent out on Class Dojo by your class teacher on Fridays.

KS2 Optional extra home - learning tasks
Write a character diary entry from the point of view of Puck after he causes confusion with the love potion.
- Describe what happened and how he feels about it.
- Use lively language and include your own ideas about what he might be thinking.
Challenge: End your diary entry with a short rhyme Puck could say to himself.
Compose a short piece of music (about 1 minute) inspired by colours.
- Choose three colours and describe what feelings, sounds, or instruments they remind you of.
- Either record your piece or describe it clearly (tempo, instruments, rhythm, mood).
Challenge: Write a few sentences explaining how someone might see colours while hearing your music (synesthesia).
Using an Ordnance Survey-style map, find and record:
- The four-figure grid reference for five landmarks (e.g., a school, a river, a hill)
Challenge: Create your own mini-map on squared paper and mark at least four features with clear grid references.
Create a simple birthday party budget using a spreadsheet program such as Excel.
- Include columns for items, quantity, cost per item, and total cost
Challenge: Format your spreadsheet neatly using colours and borders.
